13 generations.
One island.
It is unfortunately rare for Jewish families in the Americas to trace their roots back more than a few generations. For those of us descended from the Curaçao congregation, that history runs extraordinarily deep.

The image here is my father's side of my family tree: 13 generations on the island of Curaçao, and 2 more reaching back to the Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal.

This family tree was researched and created by MIE congregant Sandra R. de Marchena.
